Welcome to my journal!
I am a sales-associate-slash-office-manager by day and writer by night with a BA in Writing and Literature. For the last five years after graduation, I’ve been participating in National Novel Writing Month (the goal: write 50,000 words in 30 days), working at my lovely retail job, spending time with friends, and trying to decide what to do with my life.
To make a long story painlessly short as possible, my brother convinced me to apply for grad school. I did, and he did, and we both got into schools we’re happy to be attending this fall.
However, I am getting far too excited, far too early. I have about two and a half months before I board that plane, heading off across the pond to join my fellow students at what basically amounts (in my mind) to Hogwarts. I have a lot to get done between now and then. A lot of appointments to make, a lot of money to invest, a lot of packing and repacking, a lot of reading to do. And yet…
I’M GOING TO SCOTLAND.
I never really thought I would actually get back there, at least not while I’m still in my twenties, and not to spend a whole year there studying what I love in a beautiful setting with glorious granite architecture.
Fair warning: Here, in this blog, there be monsters of the novel-writing and Scotland-visiting variety.
