Lately, I’ve been thinking about categories and labels, and mostly as they apply to the human experience.  On the one hand, it’s useful to have descriptions and understand there are others out there like you, that you’re not alone or you have a ready-made community.  On the other hand, once you create a category or label, there can be a tendency to stereotype and pigeon-hole people.

Having said that, what labels or categories would your characters claim for themselves?  Which would they despise being called, whether it was true or not?  For instance, does your modern game-playing character enjoy the “gamer” label?  Does your medieval/fantasy character relish or despise the “assassin” label?  How do they react when called these labels?
