I don’t know about you, but I have fond memories of my local library’s summer reading program.  It was mostly for kids under twelve, I believe, but I feel like I got away with it for a bit longer.  Either that, or there was another program for teens.  Yeah, probably that… Anyway, I digress.  Summer reading was the best.  You read ten things, and what qualified depended on how old you were, and then you could choose a little prize.  You were also entered for the grand prize which was…something.  I’m not sure what it was, as I’m equally not sure I ever won.  But that didn’t matter. The contest aspect along with the immediate reward of (usually) candy was enough for me.  My challenge for you this month is to read voraciously.  Read magazines, novellas, children’s books, hardcore scifi, fantasy, non-fiction: whatever strikes your fancy, read it.  In case you need some help getting started, I happen to have some recommendations for you.  Happy Summer Reading!
